Northwest College Trapper soccer receives preseason ranking
Add another first for the young Northwest College men’s soccer team. For the first time in program history, the Trappers will begin play this fall with a national ranking. Fresh off a 15-5-1 performance last year that culminated with a Region IX tournament championship, the Trappers earned the No. 18 spot in the preseason top 20 released last week by the National Junior College Athletic Association. While the team garnered a national ranking at times last fall, this will be the first year Northwest College has opened the year with a number in front of the school name in the rankings.

Fall practices begin for NWC
Summer is officially over at Northwest College as student-athletes for the men’s and women’s soccer teams as well as the Trappers’ volleyball program began fall practices on Monday. Teams will hold multiple practices daily in preparation for the official start of the fall season, which is later this month.

Trappers, teams honored by NJCAA
Two Northwest College athletic programs and four Trapper student-athletes have been recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association for their efforts in the classroom. The awards were announced this past week by the NJCAA.

Medeiros, Saltsman named athletes of the year
Leonardo Medeiros and Cheyenne Saltsman were named the athletes of the year for Northwest College on Monday night at the school’s annual athletic awards ceremony. The dinner and program was held at The Commons in downtown Powell.

Trapper pair signs with four-year schools
Leonardo Medeiros and Legofi Crawford, two forwards from the Northwest College Region IX champion men’s soccer program, will continue their playing careers next fall at four-year universities. The pair recently signed letters of intent.
