The NWC Multicultural Club is an organization designed to build global awareness and to reach out to the campus and into the broader community. We strive to promote cultural awareness and understanding as well as to increase opportunities for education about the cultures of the U.S. and other countries. We meet on a weekly basis and it is our goal to offer international and American students a place and a time to come together, hang out, relax, and spend some time with each other. Some of our weekly activities include:
In addition to our weekly meetings, we also plan a variety of weekend activities such as:
Throughout the year we put on various CULTURAL PROGRAMS that feature and highlight different cultures, holidays, celebrations, and happenings from around the world. These events are free and open to all students and community members. Last year, some of these programs included a:
An important aspect of the NWC Multicultural Club is for us to implement and engage in community service projects in an effort to 'give back' to our community. Some of these projects include:
Our biggest and most important event of the year however, is our annual MULTICULTURAL SHOWCASE. Each year, all of our international students come together to prepare dishes, displays, and performances from their countries.
With hundreds of community members and students in attendance and with the help and support of the Diversity Awareness Committee, the Student Senate, faculty, staff, and students, the Multicultural Showcase has become the most festive and one of the more prominent events on campus. Every Spring semester we look forward to this showcase and all the wonderful talent and great food that is displayed throughout the day.
