FLYING HIGH Training students to become commercial pilots, charter pilots and flight instructors, Northwest College’s new Aeronautics degree program began taking applications in May for classes that start in August. Partnering with Choice Aviation in Cody, NWC’s newest degree program combines flight training and academic coursework toward an associate of science degree and private and commercial pilots’ licenses. Flight and ground training components will be conducted at Choice Aviation’s facilities. General education classes can be taken on campus, at the NWC Cody Center or online.
FIRING WHEN READY! Students enrolled in NWC’s Criminal Justice program are using a $200,000, state-of-the-art firearms simulator to learn how to best anticipate and engage in potentially dangerous situations. Once they step into the 360-degree simulator, they’re surrounded by life-size interactive scenarios they can expect to face as law enforcement officers or military personnel. Because it’s the only facility of its caliber within a 600-mile radius, it’s also being utilized by area law enforcement personnel and others.
REACHING STUDENTS During the 2011-12 school year, 1,734 students enrolled in online classes.
TRAINING THE WORKFORCE STUDENTS Northwest College’s Centers for Training and Development served workforce training needs through a wide variety of conferences, customized trainings, and open enrollment seminars and workshops.
