One of Northwest College’s top accomplishments in 2012-13 was selecting a new president. The NWC Board of Trustees expressed enthusiastic confidence in Stefani Hicswa who assumed the leadership role July 15, 2013.
Hicswa, 44, comes to Northwest with seven years of experience as president at Miles Community College in Miles City, Mont. Prior to that, she operated a consulting firm in Wilsall, Mont., that specialized in strategic planning and organizational development.
Hicswa holds a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Texas at Austin. The focus of her dissertation research was the role of community college presidents in rural community development.
She earned her master’s in adult, community and higher education from Montana State University in Bozeman and a bachelor’s in organizational communication from the University of Montana in Missoula.
As much as NWC chose Hicswa, she chose NWC. “It will be an honor to serve the college and community,” Hicswa said. “The community support for Northwest College is beyond anything I have seen in the 22 years I have worked in community colleges.”
