Your future, our focus
The Northwest College Wrestling program enjoys a rich tradition of academic and athletic success. Our program is a perennial power that has finished among the top ten in the nation for 17 consecutive seasons. Highlights include an NJCAA National Title in 2004 and an NJCAA All- Academic team championship in 2002 (awarded by the Coaches Association for the best grade point average among all teams). This year’s team will be pushing to bring home both trophies in the same year, which has never been done by any team.
On Friday, September 23rd, 2011, current team members will honor the champions of our past, present, and future by demonstrating their commitment to hard work. These young men will push a full sized motor vehicle for a distance of 10 miles. The “Push for Gold” is part of our preseason training and will serve as our signature fundraising event for 2011-12!
“The Push” will begin at noon (10 miles west of Powell on US HWY 14) and finish in the parking lot of the Cabre Gymnasium, on the campus of Northwest College. In a 3 mile test run, the boys averaged 9-10 minute miles so our goal is to make the journey in less than 2 hours?!?! You are invited to come and cheer their efforts or meet and greet them at the finish line.
As a result of great academic and athletic success, our wrestling program has developed and maintained a loyal following in the local community and among alumni and friends throughout the country. This year we have a celebrity supporter - bestselling author/novelist, P.C. Cast. Miss Cast is the aunt of sophomore All-American, Keithen Cast, from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She has pledged to match all donations!!! Don’t miss this chance to double down!
