The Northwest College wrestling team’s home dual against the University of Great Falls on Wednesday has been canceled, Trappers coach Jim Zeigler said Monday morning.
Zeigler said budget considerations, as well as healing time for both squads, was taken into consideration when canceling the meet. UGF will instead travel to Powell on Jan. 30-31 to compete in the Apodaca Dual Showdown at Cabre Gym.
NWC, which is 3-6 in duals this season, was originally slated to face off against Neosho County Community College (Chanute, Kan.) and North Idaho College at the Apodaca duals, but will add UGF to their slate.
“Neither coach feels like it’s the benefit to either team at this point,” Zeigler said of the cancellation. “We figured for the purpose of saving budget for them and us, it’s easier to combine them with us at the Apodaca Duals.”
