Heading on the road for its first round of playoffs the Northwest College women’s soccer team came up short against Otero College — losing 6-2 to the Rattlers in Pueblo, Colorado, on Saturday.
No. 4 seed Otero (10-2-1 overall, 7-2-1 Region IX) used four first half goals in an 11-minute span to claim the lead outright over the No. 5 seed Trappers (10-8 overall, 6-4 Region IX), as the Trappers were credited with two goals against the Rattlers.
Otero scored two more goals just after halftime to make the scoreline 6-2, and the Trappers season ended in Colorado.
After the victory, Otero advances to the Region IX semifinals to take on Casper College in Casper on Friday afternoon.
Northwest’s season comes to an end much improved over last season’s campaign. The Trappers finished with eight more wins and five more Region IX wins than last season.
The Trappers finished with two players in the top 25 for scoring to end the season, with Pressly Taylor credited with 15 goals and Autumn Wilson with 13. Not all stats were available as of press time with Taylor listed at 16 games played and Wilson at 14.
Northwest has eight players listed on the roster as sophomores, with 14 freshmen eligible to return to the team next season after an improved 2023 campaign.
