Northwest College volleyball coach Shaun Pohlman has received a prestigious postseason award.
Pohlman has been chosen as the American Volleyball Coaches Association Two-Year College West Region Coach of the Year. Pohlman has been the coach at Northwest for the past four years.
This was back-to-back years for Pohlman as an AVCA Region Coach of the Year honoree. Each of the honorees will represent their region on the 2015 AVCA Two-Year Colleges National Coach of the Year ballot.
Success on the volleyball court by the Lady Trappers has led to the award for their coach. Northwest finished the season with a 33-6 overall record.
The Lady Trappers repeated as District I, Region IX champions. They were the third seed in the recently completed Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament and finished fourth.
Northwest ranked first in the nation with an average of 14.17 kills per set and 13.03 assists per set.
The awards will be officially presented at the Jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon in Omaha, Neb., on Dec. 17. This event takes place at the 2015 American Volleyball Coaches Association Convention.
