The Northwest College volleyball team finished its season Saturday with a loss to host Sheridan College on Saturday in the semifinals of the Region IX North tournament.
The Trappers had been trying for a fifth consecutive region title.
NWC fell 3-1 to Sheridan by scores of 20-25, 25-17, 28-26, 25-18. The loss is the first to the Generals since 2011.
Luana Rezende finished her freshman season with a double-double, earning 15 kill and 17 digs, followed by Aleksandra Saric with 11 kills, Andjela Bublic with nine, and Holly Pittman with eight. Demery Dean led in assists with 27 while Jess Ruffing had 23. Pittman led in blocks and aces with five and three respectively. Kiandra Franklin added six kills and three blocks in the match.
Northwest College had two chances to reach the finals of the double elimination tournament but also fell to Laramie County 3-1 Friday.
Rezende finished with 13 kills, followed by Bublic with 11 and Saric with 10. Dean led in aces and assists with 21 and three respectively, while also picking up a double-double with 11 digs. Bre Donarski led in digs with 16. Pittman led in block with five, followed by Julianna Hughes and Franklin with four apiece.
Three Lady Trappers earned postseason awards. Saric was First Team All-Conference and All Region-IX North, while Pittman and Rezende were Second Team All-Conference and All Region-IX North. All three made the All Tournament Team.
