Northwest College has lost the coach of its successful volleyball team.
Lewis-Clark State College announced Wednesday its hiring of Shaun Pohlman.
Pohlman, a graduate of the College of Southern Idaho and Idaho State University, spent seven seasons at Northwest.
Prior to that he spent his first four years as a head coach at Dodge City Community College.
He leaves a resume of success with the Lady Trappers. His teams at Northwest won four Region IX titles and advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament four of the past five seasons with final four appearances twice. He was the District I/C Coach of the Year four times, and was a two-time recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association West Region Coach of the Year Award and National Coach of the Year nominee.
His teams also achieved in the classroom with nine successive NJCAA National Academic Team Awards and five AVCA2 National Academic Team awards. He also coached numerous all-region and all-American players, as well as national and regional individual academic award winners.
“I am extremely honored and proud to be a Warrior,” Pohlman said. “I cannot wait to get started in the gym with our returners and I am eager to get on the recruiting trail bearing the LC logo.
“I am beyond ecstatic and grateful for this opportunity and look forward to embodying the champion spirit LC State has built in its athletic programs.”
