NWC Battles Breast Cancer, No 7 LCCC this Saturday

The Northwest College Trappers will show up in pink this Saturday to do battle with seventh-ranked and Region IX North foe Laramie County Community College. The new look will be part of a national battle against breast cancer that head coach Flavia Siqueira and her players are doing their part to assist.
The team hopes to raise $1,000 during the night as part of a team of college and high school volleyballprograms across the country raising money for the Side- Out Foundation. Nationally, the organization is trying to raise $2.5 million, using the proceeds to fund grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families.
The Trappers encourage their fans to join them in wearing pink to Saturday’s 3 p.m. game in Hank Cabre Gymnasium. To make it easy, the college will be selling pink t-shirts in the lobby. They’ll also distribute educational material and collect donations. Fans can even score some athletic apparel and further support the cause by bidding in a live auction for items such as an autographed bat from Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino or a ticket and hotel package to the Wyoming-Utah football contest later this year.
“We hope to see more than Trapper fans at this game,” said Northwest College head coach Flavia Siqueira. “If your life has been touched in any way by breast cancer, I hope you’ll come to support the larger cause we’re playing for. There will be a lot more happening than volleyball, so even if you don’t follow the game, you can still be a part of this.”
Admission for the game remains at $3 for adults, $2 for students and free for senior citizens, children under age 12 accompanied by an adult and NWC students with a valid student ID.
