POWELL, Wyo. - Flavia Siqueira, who's racked up a 68-20 record in her two years at the helm of the Northwest College Volleyball Team, was given a Thirty Under 30 Award by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
The announcement was made in the February/March issue of Coaching Volleyball. This is the second year the AVCA has presented the awards, which it sees as "a way to spotlight the up-and-coming professionals in our sport at all levels of the game."
To be eligible for the award, nominees must be members of the AVCA and be under 30 years of age. Canadian coaches were also included in awards.
Siqueira is one of only two community college coaches who made the list. The other is Giovana Melo of Western Nebraska Community College, who, coincidentally, Siqueira was teammates with as a club player in Brazil. All the others on the list are associated with four-year colleges, with the exception of one high school and two club coaches.
After ending her first Trapper season with a Region IX North runner-up finish, this year, Siqueira's team claimed the north regional championship along with 11th place at the national tournament.
