The Northwest College Trappers cruised through their final matches in advance of this week's Region IX North volleyball tournament in Riverton. The Trappers rolled 25-22, 25-11, 25-12 at Sheridan College before coming home to Cabre Gym to crush Eastern Wyoming 25-11, 25-19, 25-10.

The Trappers were denied a chance to play Laramie County, ranked No. 19 nationally in the final NJCAA regular season volleyball poll. The match, scheduled for Friday night, had to be canceled when the visiting team was unable to leave Cheyenne due to road closures.

Instead, the Trappers held an intrasquad scrimmage exhibition for fans on Friday evening.

After getting off to a slow beginning at Sheridan, the Trappers rolled in both the second and third games to record a 3-0 sweep. That momentum carried into Saturday's game with Eastern.

Northwest College blew open the first game with an early 6-0 run, used a 7-1 surge to take control midway through game two and reeled off a streak of 13 out of 14 points to wrap up the victory.

Northwest College travels to Riverton on Wednesday for the start of the Region IX North volleyball tournament. The Trappers face Western Wyoming in a 6:30 p.m. contest to begin tournament play.

The Region IX North tournament will run through Saturday on the campus of Central Wyoming College in Riverton. The Region IX North tournament champion earns a place at the NJCAA national championship tournament.
