Team Remains on Cusp of Top 20

The Northwest College Trappers split a pair of volleyball matches last week to move to 18-8 overall this season. NWC dropped Dawson in three games, 25-12, 25-12, 25-23, but couldn't pull out a win at No. 12 Casper, falling 20-25, 25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 15-13.
Irelis Ilarraza led a trio of Trappers in double-digit kills against Casper, finishing with 15. Katie Gregg added 14 kills at the net while Paula Barros dropped a dozen kills in the contest. Barros also had 27 assists, as did teammate Danielle Stewart.
Trapper head coach Flavia Siqueira had reported nine sick players just 24 hours before Northwest College's game at Casper.
Danielle York had 10 kills to lead the Trappers against Dawson. Barros finished with 12 assists and teammate Megann Legerski added 11. Valerie Lesu logged 15 digs in the game.
The split of games meant no change in the rankings for Northwest College. For the third consecutive week, the team is listed among those receiving votes in the latest NJCAA poll.
Powell hosts Central Wyoming at 7 p.m. on Friday night. The team plays a 3 p.m. game Saturday against Western Wyoming in Cabre Gym. The games are the first home action for the Trappers' volleyball program since a Sept. 17 loss to Casper.
