Jim Zeigler, athletic director at Northwest College, announced last Saturday that NWC will conduct a send-off celebration for the Lady Trapper volleyball squad prior to this week's Region IX North Tournament at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne. The tournament is scheduled to begin Wednesday.

The send-off, Zeigler said, will be conducted in front of Hank Cabre Gymnasium on the NWC campus. In the event of inclement weather, he said the send-off will be moved into the lobby at Cabre Gymnasium.

"We encourage NWC faculty and staff and fans of Northwest College to come out and wish Coach (Flavia) Siqueira and the girls good luck before they travel down to  Cheyenne," Zeigler said.

The Lady Trappers (38-8 overall, 13-2 North Sub-Region) will enter the event as a No. 1 seed after winning the North Sub-Region title with a 13-2 mark. NWC also boasts a No. 20 ranking in the recently-released and final regular-season NJCAA Division I  national poll. Siqueira and her squad also have plenty of momentum entering the tournament, having won 19 of their last 20 matches. NWC, which has the benefit of a first-round bye, will  face the winner of the match between Dawson Community College and Miles Community College. The Lady Trappers' first match is slated for noon Thursday.
