Trappers volleyball schedule announced

The Northwest College volleyball team, under the direction of first-year Lady Trapper head coach Flavia Siqueira,will open the 2008 season Friday, Aug. 22, according to the official schedule recently released by NWC. On that day, the Lady Trappers are scheduled to begin competition at the College of Southern Idaho's Outback Invitational inTwin Falls, Idaho, with a 10:30 a.m. match against the event' s host team. That tournament will be the start of a long series of road matches for the Lady Trappers, who will not grace the court in NWC's Hank Cabre Gymnasium for an official home match until Sept. 22.
 
Following the two day event at the College of Southern Idaho, NWC will dive into two more tournaments - the WCCAC Preseason Tournament in Riverton Aug.29-30 and the Colby (Kan.) Classic Tournament Sept. 5-6.

Less than a week after the tournament in Colby, Siqueira and her squad will be on the road again for a Sept. 12 match against Central Wyoming College in Riverton. The next day, they are slated to face Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs.

On Sept. 18-20, NWC will take part in the Wyoming-Nebraska Shootout in Scottsbluff, Neb., and Torrington before returning to Powell for their first home date of the season - a Sept. 22 match against Dawson Community College at 7 p.m. That match will be followed by a Sept. 27 date against Miles Community College in Miles City, Mont. After that, the Lady Trappers will enjoy a four-game homestand.

The homestand will include matches against Casper College (Sept. 30), Eastern Wyoming College (Oct. 3), Laramie County Community College (Oct. 4) and Sheridan College (Oct. 7).

On Oct. 9, NWC will be at Dawson and then on to the Williston (N.D.) State College Tournament Oct. 10-11 before a two-game homestand against Central Wyoming (Oct. 16) and Western Wyoming (Oct. 17).

The remainder of October will feature road matches against Casper (Oct. 23), Eastern Wyoming (Oct. 24), Laramie County (Oct. 25) and Sheridan College (Oct. 28).

The Lady Trappers' final game of the regular season will be in Powell Nov. 1 and will be the last home game for NWC's sophomores.

The month of November will feature the annual Region IX North Tournament at Laramie County in Cheyenne Nov. 6-8. The NJCAA Division I National Tournament is slated for Nov. 20-22 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
