The Northwest College volleyball team and head coach Flavia Siqueira will conduct a pair of camps beginning Aug. 3.

"Both of the camps should be a lot of fun for those who participate, and Ithink they will be able to learn alot about the game," said Siqueira. "All of my players will be here to help, and they are all excited about teaching and helping others learn more about volleyball."

Siqueira, the camps' director and lead instructor, is in her first year as head coach for the Lady Trappers. Siqueira, originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, also has served as the head coach at the College of Southwest and as an assistant coach at the University of Mary. Her playing career was highlighted by All-Conference, All-Region and All-American honors obtained while at Western Nebraska Community College and the University of Mary.

The first of the two events, an individual skills camp, is set for Aug. 3-5 and is for girls in grades 8-12. According to Siqueira, the individual skills camps will focus on player development in all aspects of the game. The camp's coaching staff, which will consist of Lady Trapper volleyball players, will provide individual attention and skill-specific drill training.

The camp will begin with registration between 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, and will conclude Tuesday, Aug. 5 with check-out from 4-5 p.m. The cost for participants who choose to stay on campus is $160. That cost will cover room and board. The fee for off-campus participants is $100, and that charge will cover the price of meals during the three-day camp.

The Lady Trappers' advanced team camp is scheduled for Aug. 5-7 and targets high school varsity and junior varsity teams. Billed by Siqueira as a means for teams to jump start their preseason, the camp will include team drills and instruction on team concepts. The camp also will include a tournament for junior varsity and varsity squads.

The team camp opens Tuesday, Aug. 5, with registration from 4-5 p.m. and will conclude Thursday, Aug. 7, with checkout from 4-5 p.m. The cost for participants who stay on campus is $160, and that fee covers room and board. Off-campus campers will be charged $100, and meals are included in that fee.

Volleyball players also may attend both camps ($300 for on-campus participants and $180 for off-campus campers).

To enter, campers must complete an application and provide a $50 deposit. Campers also must sign a medical treatment and consent form.
