Flavia Siqueira, head coach of the Northwest College volleyball team, announced Tuesday that two more players have signed letters of intent to play for the Lady Trappers this fall.
Those signing with NWC earlier this week include Maria Maldonado of Naranjito, Puerto Rico, and Isirene Delgado of Trujillo, Puerto Rico.
Maldonado, a setter, has been playing volleyball since she was 11 years old. She has played in Junior Olympic tournaments in Atlanta, Tampa and Puerto Rico for the Copa Nuevo Dia and Liga Puertoriquena.
"I watched her play, and she is a very aggressive player," Siqueira said. "She is powerful and can be used as a hitter if needed. Maria is smart about the game, and I am excited that she is coming to play for NWC."
Delgado is an outside hitter with 10 years of volleyball experience. She competed at the Junior Olympic level for several years in the United States and played for several club volleyball squads in Puerto Rico. At the high school level, she was a starter throughout her career.
"Isirene is very passionate about the game," Siqueira said. "I believe she is going to be one of the players that you can push every day in practice and she'll never complain."
