POWELL, Wyoming — Eight Northwest College students from Vietnam will travel in place to their native land during a 7 p.m. program Thursday, Sept. 25, in the lobby of the Science and Math Building on campus.
Many Americans’ perception of this Asian country were shaped by emotional scars from the Vietnam War. NWC students will augment this image, filling in some of the blanks about their country, where the same 20-year military operation is referred to as the “American War.”
In addition to providing a longer look at the country’s history, which includes four Chinese occupations, students will touch on cultural traditions and geographic highlights like Cuc Phuong National Park, home to some of Asia’s rarest wildlife and the Muong hill tribe.
The evening also includes home-cooked food samples for all to share.
NWC’s Vietnamese Night is sponsored by the NWC Multicultural Club, Intercultural Programs, Diversity Awareness Committee and Student Senate.
Admission is free of charge.
