POWELL, Wyo. - A two-day Grant Writing Workshop for nonprofits, educators, public safety, faith-based and government entities is offered from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 3 and 4, at the Northwest College Cody Center for Training and Development.

Geared to beginning and semi-experienced grant writers, the workshop covers the grant-writing process from start to finish. All the materials are provided, including a workbook, Grant-Writing Success Guide and a 2-set DVD training refresher with an interactive grant-search database.

The first day focuses on gathering and organizing everything needed to submit a successful proposal. Topics covered include finding grant opportunities using online search tools; finding (and monitoring) funding streams; reading, understanding and responding to grant application packages; developing a proposal library; establishing successful grant writing routines and procedures; leveraging writing by involving others; putting a successful proposal together (abstract, cover letter, narrative, budget, evaluation, etc.); effectively responding to reviewer comments; resubmitting proposals; developing and using logic models for a proposal.

The second day looks at ways to master and refine each aspect of the grant-writing process. Topics include the centrality of trust building in grant writing (how to increase credibility and convey integrity in your proposals); using a grant writing kit to keep things orderly, simple and straightforward; developing and improving a grant writing kit over time; finding and tuning language to be authentic and powerfully persuasive to readers; increasing chances of funding by using and expanding personal networks.

The workshop is led by Greg O. Muller, an experienced grant-writing consultant and trainer for government, school districts, colleges, universities, social and human service agencies, faith-based organizations and other nonprofit organizations.  He has secured over $10 million in grant funds from private, state and federal grant agencies. As a trainer, he specializes in a direct, no-nonsense approach, one that is focused on getting results.

This Grant Writing Workshop is the result of a partnership between Grant Writing Success (Muller's business), and the NWC Cody Center for Training and Development.

Cost is $100, which represents a 75 percent discount from the $425 usually charged by Grant Writing Success.

Reservations and payment are only accepted online. In order to obtain the discount, participants must follow directions listed on the Grant Writing Workshop link (first follow the "Training Schedule" link and then select "Cody" to find the class link).
