POWELL, Wyo. - Trapper Scholarships are still available to students thinking about enrolling this fall at Northwest College. The popular new scholarships have already been awarded to more than 700 students, but funding is still available for more.

The Trapper Scholarship Program is designed to help students determine the minimum amount of scholarship dollars they can expect to receive at Northwest. This helps them better determine the total cost of attending college. The scholarships are guaranteed for a second year if continuing eligibility requirements are maintained.

Prospective students can click here to determine the scholarship amounts they qualify for by following the "Wyoming Students" or "Out-of-state Students" links.

Trapper Scholarships are available to high school, GED and home-school students who graduate with their class and enroll full time at NWC the fall semester after graduating. The amount of the scholarship varies according to the student's grade point average or other qualifying criteria (GED score or ACT score for home-school students). To honor citizens living in NWC's tax district, Park County students are eligible for higher scholarship amounts than students from other Wyoming counties.

Students who don't fit the Trapper Scholarship criteria are often eligible for $500 Explorer Scholarships. Part-time students (minimum of six credit hours) and full-time students with a two-year break since last enrolling at NWC qualify for Explorer Scholarships. These students must hold a high school diploma with at least a 2.5 GPA or GED score of 500, and for home-school students an ACT test score of 19. Recipients must be degree- or certificate-seeking to qualify.

In addition, a new Northwest College MASTER Scholar Scholarship Program is available to students majoring in agroecology, biology, chemistry, drafting technology, engineering, mathematics, natural resource biology, occupational safety and health, or physics.

Funded in part by the National Science Foundation, the MASTER Scholar Scholarship Program provides financial, academic and personal support to a cohort of students majoring in specific sciences. For more information, click here.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is exhausted. International students and those who receive athletic scholarships are not eligible for the Trapper Scholarship Program.

To apply for the scholarships, students must first complete an NWC online application for admissions, and then an online scholarship application.
