POWELL, Wyo. - Enrollment in the Northwest College Field Studies class to London, England, is open through Friday, Oct. 28. The class will pack in a week of site seeing during spring break, March 8-17.
Offered through the NWC Photography Department, the 10-day class itinerary includes a long list of touring destinations with plenty of flexibility for independent exploration.
Shortly after arriving in London on March 9, the group will take a panoramic city tour to get an overview of the city. The second day is consumed by a more comprehensive city-wide tour with stops for the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, a visit to the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, British Museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral and crypt.
Remaining days are filled with trips to museums, theaters, street markets, galleries, international fashion stores, famous neighborhoods and other tourist attractions. Just a few of the highlights include Hyde Park, Camden Town, British Museum, Globe Theater, Piccadilly Circus, Winchester Square, Notting Hill, Harrod’s, National Portrait Gallery and many more.
Taking advantage of one of the world’s most renowned theater districts, class members will also attend an evening theater performance, selecting from productions like “The Lion King,” “Backbeat,” Singin’ in the Rain,” “Crazy for You” and others.
Craig Satterlee, NWC’s Photography Program coordinator, will lead the class, drawing from his previous trips to London to point out prime photo opportunities, plus offer site-seeing and shopping tips.
Participants who enroll in the class for credit are invited to submit their photography in an exhibit that will be displayed in the college’s SinClair Gallery next spring and summer.
Total cost for the trip (including airfare from Billings, Mont., hotel charges, all admission tickets and ground transportation, plus most meals) is $2,900. A refundable $300 deposit is required by Friday, Oct. 28, to reserve a spot.
