P O W E L L, W y o. - Los Angeles sound recording engineer Kerry Boggio will travel to Powell Saturday, Dec. 6, to talk about careers in audio. His three-hour presentation starts at 1 p.m. in Room 29 of the Nelson Performing Arts Center at Northwest College.
During a 33-year career, Boggio saw his name on the sound mixing credits for an array of productions, including sports, varieties, musical varieties, sitcoms, dramas, game shows and others.
In the sports arena, he handled sound for Dodger baseball, golf tournaments and polo events. Television viewers heard his work if they tuned into "Maude," "Good Times," "Three's Company," "Facts of Life," "Different Strokes," "Who's the Boss," "227," the "John Larroquette Show," "Carol Burnett and Friends," "Reba" and many more.
He also mixed sound for game shows like "Concentration," "Jeopardy" and "Truth or Consequences" and on special programs featuring Diana Ross, the Carpenters, Mac Davis, Linda Lavin Bonnie Franklin, Steve Allen, Engelbert Humperdinck and many others. He worked on Hallmark Hall of Fame productions and several award shows, like the "Golden Globes," "Soap Opera Digest" and "Latino Music Awards."
Like many sound engineers, Boggio started out as a musician. He earned a bachelor's degree in trumpet performance from Eastern Washington State University before interning with Val Valentin, the former chief recording engineer with MGM and Capitol records in Los Angeles and owner of La Gab Studios.
Closer to Wyoming, Boggio serves as a member of the Northwest College Music Technology Advisory Committee. His presentation in Powell is sponsored by the NWC Music Department and is open to the public free of charge.
