P O W E L L, W y o. - The popular Studio Singers at Northwest College are adding a little blues and pop to their jazz repertoire this year with concerts scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 3 and 4, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.
Mike Masterson, the singing group's director, says his musicians are really primed for the concerts after clinics and performances during the college's recent jazz festival.
"People who come out for these concerts are in for a real treat," Masterson said. "These students are singing as an ensemble as well as any group I've had in the 30 years I've been teaching music at Northwest. They're blending and expressing music in a true ensemble fashion."
As usual, the program features some instantly recognizable tunes like Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. Baby boomers in the audience will appreciate Nat King Cole's 1947 hit "Nature Boy."
Admission is free to both concerts.
