P O W E L L, W y o. - For over three decades, a sure sign of spring in the Big Horn Basin was the annual Science Circus put on by scientists at Northwest College. Their circus performance became a casualty of the passage of time as those daring young men on the gravitational trapeze started looking at retirement. The good news for both yesterday's and today's youngsters is that the scientists have decided to bring the circus back for one final performance at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in Room 70 of the Fagerberg Building on Seventh St.
They are promising a show that features the best of the best from the circus' 33 years of impossible feats and daring stunts. Even though this final performance will have "lots of explosions," it will stay true to its mission of providing entertainment for the whole family that's fun, educational and free.
The professorial presenters who dress like clowns to make all this happen are Boom-Boom Barkan (retiring professor of chemistry and mathematics), Constable Childs (professor of chemistry and mathematics), Egghead Enger (professor emeriti of physics and mathematics) and Wizard Watne (associate professor of chemistry and astronomy).
In addition to entertaining their audience, they promise to challenge participants to sharpen their powers of observation, possibly learn something new, and have a good time with science.
Admission to the Science Circus is free to the young at heart (no matter how old they may be).
