P O W E L L, W y o. - Safety certification and recertification trainings will be offered Tuesday through Friday, Nov. 7 and 10, at the Northwest College Cody Center for Training and Development located in the Park County Complex on Stampede Avenue.
Contractors, city leaders and business owners can provide safety training for their employees through the sessions developed and delivered by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
Workers needing initial safety certification can earn their certificates by completing MSHA's Part 48 New Miner Training offered from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, Nov. 7-9. This three-day course, which covers all topics necessary to acquire first-time certification, looks at supervisor responsibility, electrical hazards, transportation, communication, accident prevention, noise hazards, Part 62, first aid, respirators, dust hazards, fire safety, Hazcom and ground control. Cost is $125 per person.
Safety-certified individuals who need to recertify can do so in the Part 48 Annual Refresher course given from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10. Cost is $45 per person and includes an update on ground control, transportation, communication, electrical hazards, accident prevention, Hazcom, blasting and explosives, noise hazards, dust hazards, respirators, mandatory health and safety, and first aid.
Rohy Kepler from the Wyoming MSHA State Grant Program will provide training for both classes.
The twice-yearly trainings are offered through the Northwest College Center for Training and Development (CTD). Each class is limited to 25 participants, with a minimum of 10 enrollees.
