POWELL, Wyo. - Richard Wilson, a professor emeritus at Northwest College, will look at changing perspectives during his Thursday, Jan. 27, presentation for the NWC Writers Series.
The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Rendezvous Lounge of the DeWitt Student Center on campus.
In his multimedia presentation, Wilson will look at some of the changes he has observed in social attitudes toward writing, reading, and the value of the written word.
He’ll use as examples what he calls his own mundane images—words, sounds, and visual impressions—to explore contemporary communication and language-related issues that impact everyone. Other examples will be drawn from his experiences in the college writing classroom during the past 35 years.
In a break with most programs given through the NWC Writers Series, Wilson will provide an opportunity to think about recent developments in written communication and how the writer's social functions are likewise evolving.
Wilson said he’s aiming for an enjoyable dialogue that contemplates a changing society examined through the lens of those who chronicle it.
In addition to his years of teaching at Northwest and the University of New Mexico, Wilson is recognized locally as the creator of the popular Rosebud Film Series.
