P O W E L L, W y o. - Cody area businesses are invited to learn how to prevent retail theft and recognize employee drug use at two short trainings April 3 and 10 at the Northwest College Cody Center for Training and Development.
Cody's Assistant Chief of Police Dave Patterson will talk about "Retail Theft Awareness" before working hours to give business owners and community members an opportunity to learn how to prevent and decrease shoplifting losses.
Patterson's one-hour program begins at 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 3. He'll share trends in merchandise theft, methods of prevention and how to safeguard against shoplifters. A previous participant in the class said, "This will help me develop a plan for my employees and know what to watch for."
Cost is $5 per person. The registration deadline for this workshop is Wednesday, April 2.
On Thursday, April 10, Officer Beau Egger of the Cody Police Department will present "Drug Awareness," covering information on basic drug recognition, current area trends in drug activity, recognition and signs of drug use and abuse, plus methods of enforcement.
"Even child care providers would find the class helpful as they look for signs of drug use in the homes of the children they care for," Patterson said.
Cost is $5, and the registration deadline is Wednesday, April 9.
