POWELL, Wyoming — “Different Perspectives,” an exhibit of work by nine ceramists from the Red Lodge Clay Center in Montana, opens Tuesday, March 1, with a 7 p.m. artists’ reception at Northwest Gallery in Powell.
This is the ninth year Red Lodge Clay Center ceramists have exhibited at NWC, bringing together artists with distinct styles from disparate parts of the country.
The exhibit showcases a myriad of “Different Perspectives” that can be expressed through functional and sculptural ceramics, including both wheel-thrown and hand-built pieces. Visitors will be treated to whimsical statues, elegant tea services, one-of-a-kind plates, uncomplicated explorations of texture and much more.
This year’s featured artists in residence are Summer Carmack, Joyce St. Clair, Jocelyn Howard, Kirk Jackson and Lars Voltz.
Also contributing to the exhibit are Red Lodge Clay Center staff Ernest Forward, Wesley Harvey, David Hiltner and Andrea Moon.
“Different Perspectives” is displayed through April 8 in Northwest Gallery. Located in the Cabre Building on the Northwest College campus, the gallery is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays and Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Admission is free.
