POWELL, Wyo. ─ Candidates for Northwest College Board of Trustees positions will appear in a public forum Monday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center.
Co-hosting the forum are NWC’s Faculty Organization, the college’s Chapter of the Wyoming Education Association and the student Politics Club, according to organizer Steve Thulin, Faculty Organization president and NWC professor of history.
“This is not a ‘partisan’ event,” Thulin explained, “but informational and, we hope, also educational for Park County residents who wish to attend.”
After filing in August, candidates for four seats on the seven-member board proceeded directly to the Nov. 8 general election. All candidates have committed to participating in the forum; individuals who have filed for seats are as follows.
Scott Feyhl will face incumbent Mark Wurzel in a contest for a sub-district A (Powell) seat.
Luke Anderson, Bob Newsome and Steve Webster have filed for two sub-district B (Cody) seats being vacated by the retirement of trustees Paul Fees and Mark Westerhold. Incumbent Nada Larsen is running unopposed for the sub-district C (Meeteetse) seat.
Following candidate introductions and personal statements about why they’re running, the forum will be opened to questions from the audience, according to Thulin, who will serve as moderator. The forum is expected to last about 90 minutes.
Current NWC trustees are Paul Fees, John Housel and Mark Westerhold of Cody; Carolyn Danko, Dustin Spomer and Mark Wurzel of Powell; and Nada Larsen of Meeteetse. Cody trustees Fees and Westerhold did not seek re-election after having served four and 12 years, respectively.
