CODY, Wyo. - Because demand exceeded capacity in an April QuickBooks 2009 class, the class will be repeated in June. Two days is all it takes to learn the new QuickBooks 2009 software through noncredit training that meets Friday, June 5 and 12, at the Northwest College Cody Center for Training and Development.
Jan Kraft, a certified management accountant, will teach "Introduction to QuickBooks - 2009" from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. both days. She starts with a primer to help students understand accounting and learn how to get a company bookkeeping system started. According to Kraft, QuickBooks 2009 training is applicable to all versions of QuickBooks.
Students will learn how to handle everyday transactions and forms like invoices, sales receipts, payments, deposits, credit memos, customer statements, bills, bill payments, checks and credit memos. Plus, they'll learn to create purchase orders, receive items, adjust inventory, and set up, adjust, pay and report sales taxes. Bank reconciliation, online banking and locating discrepancies are also covered.
Kraft will show how to deal with special transactions (refunds, voiding checks, credit memos) and offer a variety of tips and tricks from the trade. Students will also learn to work with reports and have time to pose questions about their specific bookkeeping needs.
An associate professor of accounting/business administration at NWC, Kraft draws on 35 years of accounting and teaching experience to help students apply bookkeeping vocabulary and concepts to the QuickBooks software. She recommends that participants already be comfortable using the Windows operating system.
Cost is $135 and includes a comprehensive manual. Registrations will be accepted through Tuesday, June 2.
