P O W E L L, W y o. - Photographer George DeWolfe, often referred to as the Ansel Adams of color photography, will lecture at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, in Room 70 of the Fagerberg Building at Northwest College in Powell.

Much of his talk will focus on the new Adobe Lightroom, a workflow and editing application that features an importation, browsing and organizational front-end. As a member of the original Lightroom development team, DeWolfe is in a unique position to discuss the program's myriad features.

He'll also discuss color management for printing. While the advent of digital cameras created an incredible level of flexibility for today's photographers, it's also created a new set of challenges for printing, which DeWolfe will explore in his presentation.

A photographer for over 40 years, DeWolfe studied with Ansel Adams, Minor White and Richard Zakia. He's published three books, most notably "At Home in the Wild," and has contributed to dozens of others. His most recent, "George DeWolfe's Digital Photography Fine Print Workshop" received wide acclaim and is regarded by many in the industry as "the" reference manual on how to make the best color digital images.

During his many years as a contract photographer, his client list included the likes of Eastman Kodak, Hewlett-Packard, Teledyne Water-Pik, United Bank, Yamaha, J.C. Penny and Sears.

DeWolfe's work has been featured in 40 one-man and numerous group exhibitions and resides in several permanent collections. He is currently a senior editor for CameraArts, and an advisor to Epson America, Adobe, Hahnemühle, and Polaroid. In constant demand as a teacher and lecturer, DeWolfe holds a master's degree in photography and graphic art from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

His presentation in Powell is sponsored by the Northwest College Photography Department with Perkins Grant funding.

Admission is free.
