POWELL, Wyoming — Two Northwest College students from Pakistan will share food, dance, visuals and cultural information about their homeland in a 7 p.m. program Monday, Sept. 28, in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center.
The two students represent diverse Pakistani populations. One is from the Gilgit-Baltistan region, known as Little Tibet. This mountainous region situated in the Karakoram Mountains is the least populated of all the provinces and territories. The other student is from Punjab, the most populous of the provinces of Pakistan, located mostly on the alluvial plain of the Indus River and its tributaries.
They’ll talk about Pakistani national themes and regional distinctions in a multimedia program. One highlight is the performance of a traditional dance.
To offer a full “taste” of Pakistani culture, the students will also serve a mixed-rice dish called biryani and a traditional stew or karai.
