POWELL, Wyo. - Trumpet and trombone players across the region are invited to add their sound to the Northwest College 2012 Trumpet and Trombone Festival.
Players are encouraged to email Neil Hansen, director of bands at NWC in Powell, or call him as soon as possible at 307-754-6427 or toll-free 800-560-4692 to receive music in time to prepare for the Saturday, Feb. 4, event. Participation is free.
“All players middle school age and older who want to improve their technique or who just want to blow their horns are welcome,” Hansen said. “We have two wonderful brass clinicians who will be featured in concert and clinics.”
They are trumpeter Brent Sandy, who performs in the Iowa City, Iowa, area and teaches at the University of Iowa, and euphonium player Loren Marsteller, who hails from the Los Angeles area and is recognized as one of finest euphonium players in the country. Both artists have been featured on many recordings in their area of specialty and can be heard in performance at the evening concert.
The day-long event features clinics, demonstrations, master classes, ensembles, instrument displays and more. Codirected by Neil Hansen and Rick Parmer, the festival culminates in a free public concert at 7 p.m. in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.
The festival is supported in part by a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council, through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
