POWELL, Wyo. - “Culture and Fun” is the theme for a Russian Night presented Tuesday, Dec. 6, by six Slavic students at Northwest College.
The evening of food, music, and cultural highlights begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Rendezvous Lounge of the DeWitt Student Center.
The six students who prepared the program (four from Russia and one each from Belarus and Kazakhstan) said their main goal is to have fun showcasing their homelands. Translation: the program will be light on history, science and language, focusing primarily on Slavic cultural traditions.
The evening includes a full-dinner buffet featuring everyday dishes from the students’ family recipe books. Diners can anticipate a Borscht soup, Russian pancakes and several main dishes with plenty of beef, chicken and potatoes involved.
Songs, dances and traditional dress styles provide a full complement for the evening.
The students invite the public, and especially families, to join them in this free event.
