POWELL, Wyo. - When the Associated Collegiate Press announced its 2013 Newspaper Pacemaker Finalists this month, Northwest College’s student-produced newspaper, the Northwest Trail, was on the list.
The Trail is among seven two-year college newspapers in the final running for the prestigious national award. Also on the short list in the two-year college category are newspapers from California, Florida, Idaho, Michigan, Texas and Wisconsin colleges.
The contest was judged by a team from the Miami Herald newspaper. Judges select Pacemakers based on coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership on the opinion page, evidence of in-depth reporting, design, photography, art and graphics.
College newspapers from across the country are submitted for Pacemaker consideration.
The Pacemaker Awards will be presented Oct. 26 at the ACP Convention in New Orleans.
