POWELL, Wyoming — An evening of competitive entertainment often reserved for larger cities comes to Powell Thursday, April 30, when Northwest College’s Gay Straight Alliance student club hosts a Drag Contest.
Starting at 7 p.m. in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center, the contest is open to community members as well as NWC students.
The competition may be light-hearted, but the stakes are serious: $100 for first place, $75 for second and $50 for third.
Participants will be judged on talent, creativity, originality, humor and fashion by NWC faculty members Duane Fish, Anne Toner and Morgan Tyree.
Competitors must sign up in advance, providing information about their talent (lip-syncing is an option), character role, etc.
Those interested in participating should contact Cynthia Garhart, NWC’s GSA advisor or 307-754-6135.
The GSA student club is a support group for lesbian, gay and bisexual students and others supportive of any sexual persuasion.
