POWELL, Wyo. — Northwest College will bring a second round of finalists to campus in October and November to interview for the vice president for administrative services position.
The college left the position open after interviewing two candidates in June. The continued search identified the three applicants who will visit Powell in the coming weeks.
The first is Daniel Erbert who since 2008 has been the business officer at Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado, where he is responsible for developing and administering institutional budgets exceeding $110 million.
He’s held similar positions at Colby Community College in Kansas (vice president of business affairs); Trinidad State Junior College in Colorado (vice president for administrative services); Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas (business manager); and Lamar Public Schools in Colorado (business administrator).
Erbert holds a master’s degree in education with emphasis on administration and fiscal management, as well as a bachelor’s degree in business administration with emphasis on information technology. Both degrees were awarded by Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
He will visit campus Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 27 and 28, followed the next week by Bryant Morgan on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 3 and 4.
Currently the chief planning and budget officer at Marlboro College in Vermont, Morgan also has held similar jobs at other educational institutions, including Greenfield Public Schools in Massachusetts (director of business services); Gilman School in Baltimore, Maryland, (director of finance and administration); and Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York (budget director).
His current position encompasses the duties he would be responsible for at NWC plus a few others, such as oversight of Marlboro’s financial aid office and food services.
Morgan has completed coursework toward a doctoral degree in educational policy, research and administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and anticipates defending his dissertation in 2015.
He holds an MBA in finance from Tulane University in Louisiana, a master’s in experimental psychology from Hollins University in Virginia and a bachelor’s in psychology from Brigham Young University in Utah.
The final candidate, Lisa Watson, will be on campus Thursday and Friday, Nov. 6 and 7. She filled in as interim president at Miles Community College in Montana from May 2013 to January 2014, but in her regular role, Watson is vice president of administrative services and finance, a position she’s held since August 2010. Previously in Miles City, she was a part-time controller at Solaris Feeders and a seasonal tax accountant at Rowland Thomas and Company.
Her professional career was established in Florida where she was a CPA. She held positions there as an institutional separate accounts manager, junior accountant and district resource manager/retail operations manager at Franklin Templeton, H.J. Jenzano and Company and TJ Maxx, respectively.
Watson holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Colorado and an MBA with a specialty in international business from the University of Miami.
Northwest anticipates the new vice president for administrative services will be in place sometime during spring semester. NWC Finance Director Sheldon Flom is currently filling in as interim in the position, which opened when Kim Mills retired in October 2013.
