POWELL, Wyo. ─ Alumni and friends of Northwest College are invited to join a European travel adventure to France and Spain a year from now.
Sponsored by the NWC Alumni Association, the France and Spain: History, Culture, and Wine trip is planned Oct. 12-25, 2016.
The tour will be led by retired Northwest College professors Richard Wilson and Harriet Bloom-Wilson, veteran world travelers who’ve led NWC field studies classes for more than 25 years throughout France, the U.K., Ireland and Czech Republic. They’ve personally visited most of the trip’s destinations on this itinerary and will be joined by expert guides from Gate 1/Discovery Tours, the company in charge of the tour operations.
"We selected this particular tour," Bloom-Wilson said, "because it brings travelers to major cities and charming small towns in both France and Spain where they can experience the best—museums, food, landscape, historical sites—that these diverse regions have to offer.”
Participants on the 13-day excursion will experience wine tastings, Basque country on both sides of the Pyrenees, Lascaux cave paintings, a hilltop pilgrimage site, a medieval walled city, a cooking class, art through the ages and two nights in a French château.
The travel package includes round-trip airfare from Billings, Montana.
The tour is limited to 20 participants plus the Wilsons. In order to secure a spot, a $300 deposit to the Northwest College Foundation is required no later than Dec. 13, 2015. Deposits are refundable only if the trip doesn’t have 20 participants by Dec. 13, Bloom-Wilson said. The balance of payment is due in August 2016.
