POWELL, Wyoming — Nurses and EMTs can learn new skills, update existing skills and earn continuing education units this fall in classes offered through the Northwest College Centers for Training and Development in Powell and Cody.
Nineteen Learning Modules for Nurses will be offered in Powell. Each one is a four-hour session covering a specific topic.
Individual classes are offered in telemetry, geriatric and dementia care, pain management, pediatric respiratory emergency, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, nurse leadership and the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition, Clinical Modification/Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-CM/PCS).
In addition, six critical care classes are offered in respiratory care, cardiac, central lines, drips, bi-pap and ventilators. A labor and delivery unit includes classes in prenatal care for obstetric nurses and beginning labor part I and II.
Each module costs $40. Times and dates vary; the first class begins Wednesday, Sept. 23. All classes meet in the Yellowstone Building at Northwest College.

Advanced EMT training will be offered from Monday, Nov. 2-Saturday, Jan. 9, in Cody. The class meets from 5:30-9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on two Saturdays.
Taught by West Park Hospital instructors, the training includes advanced patient assessment, cardiovascular emergencies, advanced cardiac life support techniques, manual defibrillation, medical emergency medication, cardiac medication administration, intravenous therapy, multi-lumen intubation, pain medication and pain management medication.
The $665 cost includes lab fees, but a text must be purchased separately. TANF grant funding is available to individuals who qualify under financial guidelines.
