POWELL, Wyo. - The Photographic Communication Department at Northwest College invites area photographers to a day of workshops presented Thursday, April 25, by professional action and fitness photographer James Farrell and by photography editor for Hearst Digital Media Sarah Bonk, both from New York.
Bonk will offer a two-hour Portfolio Development Workshop at 10 a.m. in Room 41 of the Fagerberg Building. She has worked as a photography editor for Hearst Digital Media since 2011 where she researches photos for Woman’s Day, Good Housekeeping, Redbook, Marie Claire, Seventeen and Country Living.
Before moving to Hearst, Bonk worked for Newsweek, The Daily Beast and Time.com She also has experience as a photographer assisting for Michael Christopher Brown Photography. Bonk holds a bachelor’s degree in photography from Columbia College in Chicago.
From 1:30-5 p.m., Farrell will present a Commercial Photography Workshop on Magazine Editorial Assignments in the Marlene Dietrich Studio of the Fagerberg Building. He’ll focus on action and fitness, plus offer a fashion session focusing on women’s rodeo fashion. The owner of James Farrell Photography, his current client list includes Men’s Fitness, Fitness Magazine, Runners World, Muscle and Fitness and ESPN.
Before launching his own professional studio, Farrell assisted for New York commercial photographers Craig Cutler Studio, David Yellen Photography and Roxanne Lowit Photography. He holds a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Northern Michigan University, Marquette.
