POWELL, Wyo. - May Day music at Northwest College features three winners in the Young Artist Competition when the Northwest Civic Orchestra takes the stage in a Saturday evening concert. The May 1 orchestra concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.
Powell High School student pianist YeunHa Kim is among the trio of Young Artist Competition winners. Kim will perform "Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor" by W. A. Mozart.
Trombone player David Ginger of Cody High School is featured on "Morceau Symphonique" by Alexandre Guilmant.
The audience will hear another Mozart piece when University of Wyoming student violinist Sarah Ferguson of Laramie, Wyo., performs the first movement of "Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major."
Johann Strauss lovers will also be treated to a performance of "Emperor Waltzes."
Orchestra Conductor Maurine Akin will share the conductor's podium with NWC Music Program Coordinator Tim Schoessler; they will each conduct a portion of the Saturday evening program.
General admission is $7, senior citizens pay $5 and students are free.
