P O W E L L, W y o. - Creating a payroll can be a headache for small and large businesses alike, but a good understanding of the payroll feature in QuickBooks can make it a lot easier, according to Lynne Whitmore. A certified public accountant, Whitmore will make it easy to learn payroll procedures in a one-night noncredit class Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Northwest College Center for Training and Development.
The three-hour class, "Performing Payroll in QuickBooks," begins at 6 p.m. and walks through the steps for properly setting up a payroll system in QuickBooks 2007. Students learn how to access information on the Internal Revenue Web site, create new employee accounts and generate payroll forms and reports.
In addition, Whitmore will show how to use the program to create paychecks and pay tax liabilities. She'll also provide troubleshooting tips and solutions for common problems and mistakes for those who are already familiar with the QuickBooks payroll feature.
Cost is $35 and includes handouts.
