P O W E L L, W y o. - Carla Edwards, a Casper-based educational specialist trained by eBay, will walk through the steps to becoming a successful eBay seller during a 9 a.m.-4 p.m. training session offered Friday, Oct. 12, in Cody and Saturday, Oct. 13, in Worland. The deadline to register for either session is Thursday, Oct. 4.

"The Basics of Selling on eBay" provides new or inexperienced eBay users the tools needed to become as successful as the 1.3 million people (according to AC Nielsen International Research) who currently use the site as a primary or secondary source of income.

Edwards counts herself as one of that group. "I began selling on eBay when I retired from my 'real job' and found it to be so exciting and so lucrative, it quickly became my second real job."

With more than 50,000 categories to choose from when marketing goods on eBay, Edwards said submitting an item for sale can be a little overwhelming at first, but not impossible, as the registry of 203 million users shows.

She'll explain how to open a seller's account, do research and create listings through the "sell your item" form, improve listings with better descriptions and photography, set pricing, open and use a PayPal account, monitor listings and complete transactions. She also offers an introduction to "my eBay" pages.

In addition, Edwards provides free follow-up advice and a free one-time review session of auctions held by class participants.

Edwards has been an eBay education specialist since 2005 and an eBay seller since 1997. She was one of 70 "power sellers" featured in the book "The eBay Success Chronicles."

Her October seminars in the Big Horn Basin are held at and sponsored by the Northwest College Centers for Training and Development in Cody and Worland.

Cost is $85 per person. To register, or for more information, e-mail Kristy Hansen in Worland or call (307) 347-8541, or Nancy Hyde in Cody or call (307) 587-3506.
