P O W E L L, W y o. - A collection of award-winning photographs taken by students and teachers around the world is on display through Thursday, Nov. 2, at SinClair Gallery in Powell, Wyo.
Photos by Northwest College faculty Craig Satterlee and adjunct faculty Steve Smith are among the photos that will be displayed.
The Photo Imaging Education Association (PIEA) 2005 International Exhibition travels in two editions to 60 venues in Australia, South Africa, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. No other student photo show is seen by as many people on four continents.
The 64 images, chosen from over 5,566 entries entered by 109 schools, colleges and universities, includes the best work from eight countries: Australia, China, Guatemala, India, South Africa, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Prizes totaling $109,000 were awarded to 91 winners, making the PIEA competition the best-endowed international student photo competition in the world.
Competition judges were renowned photographer Douglas Kirkland, retired teacher Al Rodriguez and Marianne Fulton, former curator of the George Eastman House in Rochester, N.Y.
The PIEA is a section of Photo Marketing Association International. PIEA members are professional educators from 14 countries who teach photography and digital imaging at all education levels.
SinClair Gallery is located in the Orendorff Building at Northwest College in Powell. It's open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Admission is free.
