If you didn't take an NWC credit class last year, you've got a $500 scholarship waiting for you

POWELL, Wyo. - There's a scholarship with your name on it at Northwest College if you didn't enroll in an NWC credit class during the 2009 calendar year.

The 2010 Spring Start Scholarship is available to any student, including GED, home school or high school graduates, who didn't enroll in an NWC credit class during 2009. In order to receive the $500 scholarship, students must enroll in any combination of one or more classes that add up to six credits. Recipients can choose to enroll in more credit hours, but will only receive the scholarship for the first six credits.

That's all it takes to get a cool $500, an amount that takes a sizable chunk out of the cost of taking six credits. In-state tuition for six NWC credits taken on-site in Cody or Powell is $534, plus books and possible course fees, depending on the class. Costs vary for classes taken via Internet, ITV (live interactive television) and on-site outside Park County. All classes that meet the scholarship's credit requirement are eligible, including those taken on-site, via the Internet and ITV.

The first step in getting the scholarship is to select and register for one or more credit classes from the Intersession/Spring Semester 2010 Class Schedule. Printed copies of the class schedule can be picked up at NWC centers in Cody and Worland and on campus in the Enrollment Services Office. They're also available for viewing at public libraries across the Big Horn Basin.

The next step is to print and fill out a Spring Semester 2010 Spring Start Scholarship Form by following the "Spring Start Scholarship" link. Forms are also available on campus and at the NWC Cody and Worland centers. Mail the completed form to Spring Start Scholarship, Northwest College, 231 W. 6th St., Powell, WY 82435-1895.

The Spring Start Scholarship can't be used in conjunction with any other scholarship, and because funds are limited, scholarships will be awarded first come, first served.
