POWELL, Wyo. ─ Strums and drums take center stage in a 7:30 p.m. concert Monday, Nov. 24, when the Northwest College Music Department showcases two small ensembles in a diverse collection of musical selections in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.
Concluding its first semester under the tutelage of Jeff Troxel, the Guitar Ensemble performs an assortment of jazz, Celtic and classical selections featuring a few duets and soloists. Their repertoire includes “Bill’s Bay” by Chris Buzzelli, Jack Peterson’s “Checkin’ it Out” and “Carolan’s Concerto” by Irish composer Turlough O’Carolan.
The sticks and skins come out, under the direction of Matt Devitt, when the Percussion Ensemble changes tempo and wraps up the evening with “Wood, Metal and Skin” by Josh Gottry and “A la Samba” by Mitchell Peters.
Admission to this evening of music is free and open to the public.
