P O W E L L, W y o. - The Northwest College Center for Training and Development will offer a Thursday, March 15, workshop titled Grant Writing 101: Finding, Designing and Writing Successful Grants.
The three-hour workshop begins at 6 p.m. in the NWC Powell Center for Training and Development, located on the college's West Campus. It's led by Jay Otto, manager of West Park Hospital's Prevention and Wellness Office in Cody. Cost is $30 per person.
Otto said participants "will learn the basics of grant writing, including strategies for finding grants, determining whether a grant is appropriate or not, ideas on how to design grants so that they are more likely to be funded, and specific pointers on using appropriate language and writing techniques."
He promises a "very interactive" workshop and encourages participants to bring grant topics with them.
Otto holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked as an electrical engineer in the Advanced Projects Group of Hewlett-Packard. His career since then has placed him in service to Habitat for Humanity, his own business, several non-profit entities, and two community colleges.
