Northwest College has scheduled a full slate of activities in March to celebrate Women’s History Month.
Since 1987, the month of March has been designated as Women’s History Month to celebrate and reflect upon the leadership, courage, struggles and contributions of women throughout history.
The lineup begins with an event titled “Nevertheless, She Persisted: Wyoming Women in Politics,” which takes place Thursday, March 1, at 6 p.m. in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center.
In this forum, seven Wyoming women come together to share their perspectives on the opportunities, challenges and choices the world is currently facing. They will also discuss the diverse work women are doing at all levels to provide solutions to current and future issues. Finally, they’ll explain why it’s important for women to participate in all levels of decision making.
Panelists include Cynthia Cloud, Wyoming state auditor; Amanda Enriquez, NWC Intercultural Program manager; Jessica Jatkowski, NWC adjunct instructor; Amy McKinney, associate professor of history at Northwest College; Harriet Bloom-Wilson, retired director of NWC Intercultural Programs; Florence Ebila, visiting Fulbright scholar from Uganda; and Aura Newlin, assistant professor of sociology and anthropology at NWC.
As the month unfolds, stay tuned for three additional presentations and discussions. This forum is sponsored by the Office of Intercultural Programs and the NWC Politics Club. The event is free and open to the public.
