The Northwest College English Department hosts Fulbright Scholar Holly Walters for an evening lecture Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center.
Walters is a Ph.D. candidate in cultural anthropology at Brandeis University. Her work focuses on the anthropology of religion, linguistic anthropology, myth and ritual, visual narratives, religious experience and pilgrimage in India and Nepal.
Drawing from her travel experience and research, Walters’ presentation highlights ritual practices, fossil folklores and Hindu/Buddhist pilgrimage in the Kali Gandaki River Valley in the high Himalayas of Nepal where she spent 16 months in 2016 and 2017.
As a firm believer in interdisciplinary approaches, her work draws on multiple theoretical frameworks including anthropology, religious studies, literary analysis, as well as art and object agency.
This event is free and open to the public.
